Creativity and ingenuity is at the heart of all of the projects completed by Cable Design, Inc’s President Kathleen Pope. One of the most exciting projects Wilmette, Illionis-based Cable Design completed in the first quarter of 2005 was for Edwin Schlossburg Design in New York City. The firm recently moved into a new office and wanted to create a marketing device in the reception area so President Edwin Schlossburg could introduce first-time visitors to the various project categories the company was capable of creating. “We do corporate and museum work as well as projects to create a better environment for children,” says Michael Lapthrom, exhibit designer. The firm used Cable Design, Inc. to heighlight the company’s achievements. Cables suspended LCD monitors allowing visitors to view animated projects as well as film clips of work completed by Scholossburg’s firm. Various clips shows are continuously running on four different LCD screens. Cable Design alos took two walls and turned them into a cable wall gallery. Each wall measures 30-feet by 9-feet tall. The cable wall gallery is in the reception room where photographs can be shown in a collage format. “This innovative, flexible exhibit system allows us to switch photographs whenever we desire,” says Lapthorn. “These gallery walls provide key highlights of the work we have done.” Pope points out, “My goal is to determine what the client hopes to achieve. Once I understand the client’s objectives, I work on designing a project that meets those goals. This means finding the right materials and lighting as well as determining what type of cables are needed to provide the strength and aesthetic look for the project.” For more than 20 years, Cable Design has been creating unique designs and providing products and services to architects, commercial developers and people in the design industry.
